Natural home remedies: Dry skin


Dry skin is one which needs a lot of care and pampering. If you do not keep it moisturised on a regular basis, then it can create problems. Instead of opting for expensive chemical based market products it is always a good idea to go for natural remedies using ingredients that are easily available in your home. Here are some Natural home remedies for dry skin.

1. Facemask using sour cream and gram flour:

Sour cream has lactic acid, which helps in moisturising the skin. It also helps in removing the dead skin cells. Gram flour acts as a cleanser. Mix 2 teaspoons of sour cream with 3 tablespoons of gram flour. Mix well and apply this face mask to the skin. Leave it for 20 minutes and then wash with water. Use this remedy on alternate days.

2. Oil therapy:

Give a natural boost for dry skin treatment with oil therapy. You can make use of either coconut oil or olive oil for the same. Coconut oil is a very good moisturiser and it has plenty of fatty acids. Olive oil moisturises the skin and it has plenty of vitamins E and K. Simply take a little oil on the palms and massage it gently in circular motions on the skin. Leave it overnight for best results. If you want you may also warm the oil a little bit before applying it to the skin.

3. Facemask using avocado and honey:

Honey is a natural humectants that locks moisture in the skin while avocado is rich in nutrients that are effective on dry skin. Take the pulp of ripe avocado and in this mix one table spoon of honey. Apply this to the face and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water after 20 minutes. You may use this therapy twice in a week.

4. Facemask using oatmeal and milk:

Oatmeal is very effective on dry skin. It has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties which help in soothing dry skin. Milk has moisturising properties. In a pan, heat 1/4th cup of milk and to this add, 3 tablespoons of oatmeal. Mix well and let it stand for a few minutes. Now add a little honey and mix well. Apply this mask to the skin and after 20 minutes wash with water. Follow the remedy twice in a week.

5. Aloe vera gel:

Aloe vera gel has healing properties. They have a soothing effect on dry skin. Just scrape a little gel from the leaf of aloe vera. Apply this gel to the skin on a regular basis to keep it moisturised and healthy.

Along with these natural remedies what you can do for dry skin is keep a check on your diet. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat fish which is rich in omega3 fatty acids like salmon. Eat plenty of nuts like walnuts, fruits like avocado. Also consume flaxseed oil on a regular basis. Drink plenty of water.

A perfect amalgamation of natural home remedies and proper diet will surely help you deal with dry skin easily.
